RISE ABOVE PLASTIC

We’re surrounded by plastic. Just think about every piece we touch in a single day:

Grocery bags, food containers, coffee cup lids, drink bottles, straws for juice boxes — the list goes on and on. Plastic may be convenient, but its success carries a steep price. Plastic pollution has a direct and deadly effect on wildlife.

Thousands of seabirds and sea turtles, seals, and other marine animals are killed each year after ingesting plastic or getting entangled in abandoned fishing nets.

DIRECT ACTION ON PLASTIC POLLUTION

Greenscreen Sea-Tex® is a product program by Hunter Douglas, in collaboration with the material innovator Bionic® Yarn.

The program aims to turn recovered shoreline plastic trash into high-quality fabrics.

The result?

Greenscreen® Sea-Tex™ NXT the world’s first sunscreen fabric made from 50% recycled ocean plastic waste. By July 2020, we have turned 40 tons of washed ashore plastic into GreenScreen® Sea-Tex® fabrics for stylish Luxaflex® Roller Blinds and Vertical Blinds.

Through this program, we're helping to clean up the ocean, one of the world’s most urgent environmental challenges.

RECYCLE - RE USE

Greenscreen® Sea-Tex™ NXT fabrics are made of approximately 50% recycled plastic collected with the help of passionate volunteers through the Waterkeeper Alliance ™.

Operating in 37 countries, as well as the self-initiated project U-turn, their overall goal is to keep beaches clean and promote the marine ecosystem. Most of the plastic is collected on the Pacific coast of Central America.

For over 70 years, we have been recycling and reusing materials, sending less and less to landfills.
